FS 2263 Rope Operations
This course meets the standards based on NFPA 1006, Standard for Technical Rescue Personnel Professional Qualifications, chapter 5.1 & 5.2 and establishes the minimum JPR’s and cognitive knowledge necessary for fire service and other emergency response personnel who perform technical rescue operations. This course is also based on NFPA 1006, Standard for Technical Rescue Personnel Professional Qualifications Chapter 5.3 and establishes the minimum JPR’s and cognitive knowledge necessary for fire service and other emergency response personnel who perform technical rescue operations.
This course will emphasize disciplines in rope rescue techniques including understanding the uses and limitations of equipment, knot tying, safety aspects, anchoring systems and devices, rescue rappelling, third person rescue, lowering, systems, the application of special knowledge, skills, and equipment to resolve complex rescue situations safely. The course discusses operations in a high angle environment including specific strategies and tactics affiliated with rescue and many other aspects of rope rescue.
