Chapter 7 Student Rights, Freedoms, and Responsibilities
A college education not only prepares students for a profession, but it is also an important step in helping students become a more productive member of society. SAU Tech is a learning community whose members include its students, faculty, and staff. The College offers a high quality, challenging learning environment with the basic purposes of the enlargement, dissemination, and application of knowledge.
Freedom of expression and assembly is fundamental to achieving these basic purposes, but the College must strike a balance between maximum freedom and regulations that promote the order necessary to provide an environment conducive to learning.
The guidelines in the subsequent pages are established with the following objectives:
- Protect student’s rights
- Facilitate the definition of student responsibilities
- Provide avenues through which students may seek to affect change
- Preserve the integrity of the learning community
