FS 2026 Emergency Medical Technician I
The Emergency Medical Technician course provides the minimum information for basic knowledge and skills to deliver for Basic Life Support care. This is a 200 hour course which includes successful completion of standardized cognitive and psychomotor skills. Also, this course requires 30 of those hours in Clinical/Field rotation in the Emergency Rooms and BLS/ALS Ambulances that provide a preceptor that satisfies the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician and Arkansas Department of Health rules and regulations. This course is designed as a vital link in the chain of pre-hospital health care teams. It not only prepares student for the National Registry (Required by Arkansas Department of Health for EMT), it covers emergency care of injured for recognizing the nature and seriousness of a patient’s condition. It also teaches how to determine the extent of an injury during an emergency. EMT course provides the student with the ability to administer emergency care for stabilization of the patient’s condition. The course teaches the proper lifting, ability to move and position patient’s as a way to minimize further injury. Also covered is the Arkansas trauma system along with the transportation of patient’s to the appropriate hospital facility. This course works within an Incident Command System during the program. This EMT training is based upon the EMS Educational Standards derived from the USDOT National EMS Educational Standard.
