Program Description

The Esthetics Technology certificate program is designed to provide scientific/artistic principles and hands-on fundamentals associated with the art of skin care. The curriculum provides a stimulated salon environment which enables students to develop manipulative skills. Coursework includes instruction in all phases of professional esthetics technology, business/human relations, product knowledge and other related topics.

SAU Tech’s Cosmetology program is accredited and licensed by the Cosmetology Section of the Arkansas Department of Health. This program teaches students all that is required to successfully pass the National Esthetics Theory Examination which is the licensure examination for estheticians developed by the National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology (NIC).

This is a 15-week 16 credit hour program equating to the 600 clock hours required for licensure as an esthetician. Total program cost: $8,715

General Requirements

  • The certificate requires successful completion of 16 credit hours.
  • A minimum 2.00 cumulative grade point average is required for graduation.
  • Satisfaction of all financial obligations due to the college is required for graduation.

Residency Requirement

The student is required to complete a minimum of 15 semester hours in residence at SAU Tech for associate degrees and technical certificates and half of the credit hours required for certificates of proficiency as well as complete all other graduation requirements.  Students who wish to pursue additional degrees must complete a minimum of 15 credit hours of difference between the degrees.

The Arkansas Course Transfer System (ACTS) contains information about the transferability of courses within Arkansas public colleges and universities. Students are guaranteed the transfer of applicable credits and equitable treatment in the application of credits for admissions and degree requirements.
