Program Description
The Nail Technology certificate program is designed to provide cosmetology education that meets the requirements of government agencies and the skills standards set for entry-level nail technologists. This program of study instructs students in basic theory and lab services.
Southern Arkansas University Tech’s Cosmetology program is accredited and licensed by the Cosmetology Section of the Arkansas Department of Health and teaches students all that is required to successfully pass the National Nail Technology Theory Examination which is the licensure examination developed by the National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology (NIC).
This is a 15-week 16 credit hour program equating to the 600 clock hours required for licensure as a nail technician. Program cost: $8,190

General Requirements
- The certificate requires successful completion of 16 credit hours.
- A minimum 2.00 cumulative grade point average is required for graduation.
- Satisfaction of all financial obligations due to the college is required for graduation.
Residency Requirement
The student is required to complete a minimum of 15 semester hours in residence at SAU Tech for associate degrees and technical certificates and half of the credit hours required for certificates of proficiency as well as complete all other graduation requirements. Students who wish to pursue additional degrees must complete a minimum of 15 credit hours of difference between the degrees.

The Arkansas Course Transfer System (ACTS) contains information about the transferability of courses within Arkansas public colleges and universities. Students are guaranteed the transfer of applicable credits and equitable treatment in the application of credits for admissions and degree requirements.
